Grade level: appropriate for 2nd – 5th grade, target grade is 3rd
Product type: a printed copy of the Student Pages to use with the RSO Chemistry level one course.
What are the Student Pages? The RSO Chemistry Level One Student Pages provide an additional copy of all of the pages from the Chemistry course that are consumable. This includes all of the lab worksheets and all of the “For My Notebook” reading pages found in the main textbook. The Student Pages are intended for those using the textbook with more than one student. They do not provide anything “extra” to the course.
RSO Chemistry 1 Course Description
You will find R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey (RSO) to be unlike any other science curricula available. Most notably, it is secular. Only scientific inquiry and theory based on empirical and measurable evidence are understood to be valid and standard science in all of our RSO courses.
Also, RSO courses are written specifically for home and small group use. Packed full of serious science and loads of fun, RSO is an incremental program that gently builds on itself and incorporates mathematics, scientific method, and science terminology. Created with the science novice in mind, you don’t need any science background to teach RSO.
In RSO Chemistry (level one), the topics covered are usually those reserved for high school chemistry, but are presented in way that youngsters can easily grasp. Topics covered include atoms, molecules, the periodic table, states of matter, acids and bases, and chemical reactions. Students start small, pondering the size and magnitude of atoms and molecules. Then students make their own periodic table and study 18 of the most common elements. They experiment with states of matter and make their own pH scale. Students end big with chemical reactions and exciting combustion labs.
The following is a list of topics your child will learn during the year while completing Chemistry (level one). Each topic is introduced with a lesson story that is read aloud by the parent or instructor. Each lesson is followed by 1 to 5 hands-on activity labs that reinforce the material and introduce science terminology and age-appropriate math. Remember your child will also be having a whole lot of fun. Also included in this scope are laughing, playing, exploring, reading, singing, and begging for more RSO!
