The Classical Education Timeline is aesthetic, functional, and durable. It was created with the intent of replacing an unsightly construction paper timeline. This timeline comes in five color coded sections of five feet each for documenting Prehistory, Ancient History, Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Modern History. The optional Prehistory Section is packaged separately and begins at 2 million BC (with extra space to document earlier events). It is the only section of the timeline that is not spaced consistently at 3 inches for every 100 years (if it was it would be over one mile long!). The other four sections are packaged together (three sections for documenting Ancient History and one section for documenting the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Modern History). The long span for Ancient History is due to a consistent 3 inches for every one hundred years. This is the only timeline we know of that allows for this uniformity. Consistent spacing is important for students to precisely determine the time span between events and for a more accurate overall conception of historical events. Each section of the timeline is packaged accordion folded to 8 ½" x 11". They can be 3 hole punched and placed in a notebook or displayed on a wall stacked vertically or connected horizontally (we recommend vertically unless you happen to have a 25 foot wall available!).
The Classical Education Timeline is a tool for the study of history. Significant dates are not pre-entered. Your student enters dates of historical events and people that you or they deem significant. This format allows for the greatest retention of history and foremost recognition of historical relationships and coincidences. For example, while recording the history of architecture during the 13th century a student may notice that the Anasazi Indians in North America were living in cave "cities" while the Europeans were building elaborate castles out of stone.
New sticker packs are now available! Included with both timeline packages - two hundred revised stickers of historical events and people. These stickers have been newly updated to better match our History Odyssey programs. The stickers depict history images such as war battles, significant events, daily life, religious leaders, world leaders, important architecture, and inventions. These stickers are attractive black and white sketches and photographs that measure 1" x 1 ½ "each. They are a great addition to your timeline and history program.
